The story of KaiOils
It began in our own kitchen
It started with a question
Like most families, we cooked with whatever oil came in the shiny supermarket pouch. Then we started reading the labels, and asking how that oil was made.
Most everyday vegetable oils are pressed at high speed and heat, then chemically treated, bleached and deodorised until they have no colour and no smell. Some are blended with cheaper oils. We could not say for sure what we were putting into our children's food every day, and that worried us.
So we went back to the way our grandparents did it.
Chapter one
Our own wooden press
We found an old-style wooden press, a marachekku, and began pressing groundnut, sesame and coconut for our own kitchen. The press turns slowly, the oil stays cool, and nothing is added or taken away.
The first bottles smelled of roasted groundnut and toasted sesame, the way oil used to smell. Relatives asked for a bottle, then neighbours, then their friends. A kitchen habit slowly became a small family unit.

Into the world of essential oils
Pressing seeds taught us to respect plants. We began learning about the aromatic oils inside rosemary leaves, tulsi, lemongrass, rose petals and orange peel, and how families across the world have used them for generations.
We also saw how many “essential oils” on the market are diluted or mixed with synthetic fragrance. So we set ourselves one rule: only the purest form, from one plant, with nothing added, and every batch tested by GC-MS before it reaches you.

We make KaiOils for our own family first. For our infants, that means plain, pure cold-pressed sesame and coconut oil for the daily massage, with nothing added, because tiny babies don't need essential oils.
For everyone else, from grandparents to teenagers, our pure essential oils bring the fresh aroma of plants into the home, into hair oil on a Sunday morning and into the diffuser at bedtime.

Why “Kai”
Kai comes from Kaivalya (कैवल्य), a Sanskrit word for purity and completeness. It is what we want in every bottle: one seed or one plant, pressed or distilled gently, and nothing else.
